Back 2 School Makeup Must Haves
Summer is rapidly coming to a close and with late afternoon showers the days are seemingly getting shorter. Soon, some of us will be up to our ears in books and academia! From K-12 to college, getting new back to school items was always my favorite kind of shopping! And makeup, is no exception to that. Below is a list compiled of all my full face favorites that are easy to use, compact, and school day friendly. No one wants to be worried about their concealer separating, powder wearing off, or crusty dusty lips right before a big presentation. So let’s get into it!
Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base:
This is my all time favorite moisturizer/under makeup primer! It’s perfect for all skin types and textures and lays fabulously under any style of glam! Check out any of my posts and I’ve ranted and raved about this product for years! Filled with Hyaluronic Acid, Squalane, and Shea butter, this truly is the ultimate moisturizer for any age group!
NEW E.L.F. Halo Glow Skin Tint:
This is such a great choice for your face base if you’re headed back to school and just want a little coverage, glow, and evening on the skin. Her predecessor, (The OG Halo Glow) coined as a dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter, walked so this new drop could RUN! This new skin tint from E.L.F is lightweight, buildable, and going to protect you from the UV rays with SPF 50. It’s also water-resistance up to 80 minutes for those extra hot days walking between classes. With all the properties of the beloved Halo Glow formula plus a few new ones like Zinc and Niacinamide, this is definitely going to be your new favorite!
For my girlies that want a little more coverage but still want to have that skin like finish, the Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Foundation is the way to go! She blends so nicely into the skin, has an amazing shade range, and is super non-comedogenic and safe for the skin! All skin! This is my go-to daily foundation.
She’s that girl of daily, easy to blend, concealers and that’s why the internet was raving about it! This hydrating, serum-like concealer literally glides on and instantly corrects darkness and blemishes. She’s light-weight and long-wearing, what more could you really ask for? The perfect concealer for those days where we need a little extra!
Kosas Cloud Setting and Smoothing Powder:
Okay oily girlies, this one is designed specifically to combat makeup meltdowns without removing your glow. This talc-free formula takes away unwanted shine, bakes, and minimizes pores, fine lines and wrinkles with the help of Chinese Peony, Bamboo extract, and Passionfruit leaf. Consider this your new daily powder!
A liquid blush that is going to last you through homeroom, lunch, presentations, chapter, internship, and everywhere in between. With 12 gorgeous shades to choose from, you’ll have no problem finding your perfect match! Some are matte and some are formulated with a subtle shimmer. This blush has lasted me through a pickle-ball game in the middle of a hot summer day in Florida, if that tells you anything.
Tartelette in Bloom Eyeshadow Palette:
My own personal cult favorite, this palette got me through all four (or 5) years of college! And I still sometimes find myself coming back to her today. With 3 stunning shimmer shades and 9 multi-formulated mattes this is the perfect every day palette. I have also used the dark brown matte shades to fill in my brows in a pinch! She’s all you need for a little day to night eye look.
NYX Micro Brow pencil + Brow Glue:
The only brow combo you need. I promise. And, it’s super budget friendly! Use the Micro Brow Pencil to finely fill in any sparse spots in the brow, then, lift and shape with the Brow Glue to lock them in place all day! I use this combo on most of my brides and high profile clients and it never fails me.
One of my bridesmaids put me onto this lippie and I have been changed since! Makeup is a collaborative process and while I carry high end and luxury products in my kit, sometimes my clients have their favorites too that deserve credit—I immediately added this Lip Oil to my kit after seeing it in action on this cutie’s glam! Enriched with Vitamin E and super high shine, your lipgloss will be POPPIN’ girl.
The daily setting spray of thousands across the US, and myself. Personally I prefer the gold bottle that is supercharged with ceramides and antioxidants, but the OG formula in the black bottle is just as powerful. This hydrating setting spray locks in your makeup, melts powders into creams, and leaves the skin with a beautiful long-wearing skin like finish.
Essence Lash Princess Mascara:
A mascara that actually lifts, coats evenly, lasts all day through the heat, AND is only $4. Fantastic, gimme 14 of ‘em right now. But seriously, the length you get with this mascara is insane and actually keeps my lashes lifted throughout the day, even lasting through an entire hot yoga class once. Perfect for the girl just starting to wear makeup to school and perfect for the girlie that only wants to wear mascara. This is the one for you.
